History Explorers

Calling all energetic visitors!  Explore BRVP with our 6 History Explorer sheets. Bike, run, kayak or cartwheel around the Park, to hunt down people from BRVP’s past.

There are 6 people to find altogether, one on each downloadable sheet. Each person appears on a different information panel you can find somewhere within the Park. Download a sheet, then use the downloadable map to find out where the panel is, so you can track down that character.

You’ll find plenty more facts and ideas on the History Explorer downloads. But will you be able to find all the hidden characters?

River Riches and Rotters

Can you imagine the river as it bustled with boats in the early 1800s? Cargoes included coal, grains, building materials, and supplies for local clothiers, metalworkers, brewers and bakers. Drains were cut to improve riverside pastures. Illustration by Pete Urmston

Once the River Great Ouse was a busy highway used for transporting goods to Bedford but now mainly used by leisure craft and paddlers.
