Willington Village to the east of the BRVP, surrounded by its own green belt of existing fields, will remain largely unchanged. The sizeable areas of predominantly rough grassland with scattered trees/scrub and farmland that lie immediately to the west and east of Willington help define the extent of this rural village and provide local landscape and wildlife interest.
The focus here will be on conserving and enhancing the value of these areas. Some of these areas to the east of Willington are believed to contain sand and gravel deposits, and any future working of these areas will need to provide a mix of grassland with plentiful scattered trees (“wood-meadow”) through any restoration scheme.
