Having been worked for sand and gravel during the 1980’s, the Grange Estate was restored to a mix of lakes and farmland. Now under the ownership of The Forest of Marston Vale Trust, the large part of the site will become one of the first areas to be converted to form part of the floodplain forest.
Previously worked areas provide a few constraints on what can be done with this central part of the Grange Estate, but additional woodland will be planted to provide wildlife habitat and produce future biomass for use as renewable fuel, whilst grassland areas will accommodate shallow scrapes to provide feeding areas for wading birds.
New access routes create a network for people to explore and enjoy.
